Helhoughton Home Office

Holly & George, Helhoughton
“We have moved into our new office space built by RGR and we honestly can't say enough nice things about them: the incredible level of service and coordination, the bespoke approach to every aspect of our build, the team as individuals, and the overall finish and quality of the product.

Our 30m sq build is a 2 room office with pocket door between rooms, and a kitchen and bathroom, and it's exactly as we dreamed it would be when we imagined it! The team were not only incredibly efficient, but easy to chat with about any aspects of the build or otherwise, and by the end of the build we liked to think of them as friends.

Thank you again so much for everything, we are excited to invite you back when it's furnished and the garden is landscaped to see the finished setting! We would happily recommend to anyone."

Client Brief

With a growing family and both working from home, our clients needed an office that was separate from the house and which would suit both of them.

They were looking for something that was as spacious as possible whilst still fitting in with the aesthetics of the garden, and the unique ‘L’ shape garden room is perfect for that.

Also, having a toilet and kitchenette allows them both to work outside of the house all day and really keep work separate from their home.

Challenges & Solutions

This garden room needed planning permission for two reasons!

  • Firstly, the property is located in a conservation area, meaning that you cannot build outbuildings to the side of the main dwelling under normal permitted development rights.

  • Secondly, our customers were keen to maximise the ceiling height inside the garden room, so we built  the structure to an external height of 2.8m at the front elevation.

  • Read Garden Rooms completed the planning application to Norfolk Norfolk District Council and full approval was given!
