Claxton Garden Room

Glynis and Sylvia, South Norfolk
“We are so pleased with our garden room. Currently being used as an office and entertaining space, it is comfortable and a pleasure to work in. The finished product has been completed to an extremely high standard using top quality materials. Tristen and Ross who were highly professional throughout and a pleasure to have working on the project. They carefully thought through each process and nothing was too much trouble for them. We would highly recommend Read Garden Rooms."

Client Brief

The garden is around 150m long and the bottom of it is filled with mature woodland and surrounded by fields. It’s a lovely place to spend time, but is a long way from the conveniences of the house.

Our customers are keen on hosting parties and wanted a space in the Garden to be able to do this all year round. When the room isn’t being used for entertaining, it serves are as home office away from the distractions of the house.

Challenges & Solutions

  • Build time - 13 working days

  • Garden Room is approx 80m from the house and no direct vehicle access, so we had to carry every piece of material to site by hand. We were doing 25000+ steps a day!

  • There was a ground level fall of around 300mm from the back of the building to the front of the deck, so we built the deck at a lower level than normal (ordinarily we would have the deck boards finishing around 10mm below the door sill) then constructed a step on top of the decking to make a easy entrance into the room, overcoming to issue of uneven ground
